Onam Celebration 2024: A Day of Culture and Joy
On October 12, 2024, Kewstoke Village Hall was filled with the vibrant energy of the Weston Keralites community as we celebrated Onam in grand style. The hall was beautifully decorated with colorful pookalams (flower arrangements) that set the tone for a day full of tradition and joy. Everyone arrived in stunning traditional attire, from elegant kasavu sareesto crisp mundu, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that truly reflected the spirit of Kerala.
The highlight of the celebration was the Onam Sadhya, a spectacular feast served on banana leaves. With over 20 dishes, including rich avial, flavorful sambhar, and sweet payasam, the Sadhya was a true celebration of Kerala’s culinary heritage. The event also featured an exciting mix of cultural performances, from graceful traditional dances to soulful music, captivating everyone in attendance. Traditional games like uri adi (pot breaking) and tug-of-war brought out the fun side of the celebration, with people of all ages joining in the laughter and friendly competition.
The Onam celebration was a perfect blend of culture, togetherness, and joy. It wasn’t just an event, but a memorable day that brought our community closer together. We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
